Think in Solutions
Complete UTES solutions: from concept to execution for optimal thermal storage.
We’re facing significant challenges in the energy transition. Large-scale storage of heat and/or cold in the subsurface is one of the solutions. Underground Thermal energy storage (UTES) is a technically and economically proven technique in the built environment, horticulture, and district heating networks. We’re here to assist you from the initial idea to a feasibility analysis, then onto design and permits. We ensure quality by guiding the execution of your project and optimizing the use your thermal energy storage solutions.
How do we approach this?
Together with the client, we follow a series of steps from concept to realization and operation. Depending on the project’s complexity, more or fewer steps may be required. A common approach includes:
- Quickscan – an initial exploration to determine feasibility.
- Feasibility study – a desktop analysis of technical, legal, and economic aspects.
- Further investigation – may include test drilling or modelling of the business case.
- Design – development of the concept into a detailed plan with key decisions made.
- Permitting – assistance in gathering required information and assessing effects for permits.
- Tendering – converting the design into tender documents and evaluating bids.
- Implementation – quality control and inspections during construction.
- Commissioning – testing and fine-tuning the installation, providing advice for completion.
- Operation – monitoring system performance and reporting to users and authorities.
- Optimization – providing recommendations to enhance energy efficiency and CO2 reduction.
As DTESS, our role is to act as project manager, guiding clients through the process with reputable partners boasting extensive experience in shallow geothermal energy.
